I CARE Prevention Summit
BATON ROUGE- "Ryan's Story" is coming to Baton Rouge. It's the story of a student who took his own life after being ridiculed and humiliated at school and online. His father is sharing his son's story to stop bullying and save lives. It's all part of the I CARE Prevention Summit which is coming to Pennington Biomedical on June 27th.
This morning Gwynn Shamlin from I CARE and Yolanda Jones from Louisiana Safe and Supportive stopped by 2une In to tell News 2's John Pastorek more about the upcoming event.
Ryan's father is just one of the speakers that will be talking at the summit. There will be many others giving talks and speeches about families and children. The event will also feature workshops that show parents and teachers what signs to look for in a depressed or troubled child.
"We really strive to bring parents, teachers, and professionals quality presentations and topics," said Shamlin. "It's a little different than most summits in that it's designed specifically for parents."
All parents and teachers are encouraged to attend the summit; you can register for the event here.
