How 2: Safely uncork champagne bottles
BATON ROUGE - T'is the season to celebrate, but eye doctors warn that it's also the worst time of year for eye injuries.
According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Louisiana Ophthalmology Association, every year warm bottles of champagne and improper cork-removal techniques cause serious, potentially blinding eye injuries.
Corks can leave the tops of champagne bottles at speeds of 50 miles per hour, and with enough force to shatter glass.
Dr. David Fargason, a Baton Rouge opthamologist, joined us today on News 2 at 4 to show the safest ways to celebrate.
