Hooper Road gets upgrades
CENTRAL- A road in Central is getting some improvements to relieve traffic congestion.
The state approved a million dollars to expand Hooper Road to four lanes from Sullivan to Blackwater Bayou.
The stretch of two-lane highway causes congestion and bumper-to-bumper traffic during rush hours. Drivers say the improvement is overdue.
"Sullivan and Hooper are real busy. Especially in the afternoon. Everybody is trying to go home. Central is growing, so it's a lot more traffic our here now," said Randy Kikendall.
This project is still in the planning stages and could be three to four years out. Next year a section of Sullivan is already scheduled to be widened.
