High waters close waterways for the weekend
PORT VINCENT- High water shut down some waterways to recreation through the weekend.
Boaters in Ascension and Livingston Parishes are out of luck, but that hasn't kept people from the water's edge. Some are still fishing, eating at their favorite places and tending to business as usual, while others said the closings put a damper on weekend plans.
"It's a bummer you know, you look forward to it all winter long you know wanting to go out there to go ski, go fishing, boat riding, I mean go to different bars and stuff on the river and hang out, listen to bands," said Traci Babin of Gonzales.
Waterways that are open have a "no wake" zone notice for the weekend. Closed waterways are expected to open by Monday.
The River Regatta in Livingston is rescheduled for next weekend. The Lake Bash is expected to last for the next two Saturday's in June.
