High speed chase across Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE - State Police identified two men arrested after a high-speed chase Wednesday morning as a pair of Floridians, one of whom was wanted for cocaine charges in that state.
Authorities arrested Alexander Madison, 24, and Alvin Carter, 25, of Pensacola after the chase which started in West Baton Rouge Parish and ended in East Baton Rouge Parish.
Troopers said they tried to stop their car on I-10 East just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night. The vehicle fled, going across the Mississippi River Bridge and ending when in a wreck on College Drive.
Troopers said Madison and Carter ran into a nearby hotel, where they were arrested.
State Police said Madison, the driver, faces charges of flight from an officer, hit-and-run driving, aggravated assault with a vehicle on a police officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, and driving on the wrong side of the road. Carter was charged as a fugitive from justice for cocaine arrest warrants out of Florida.
