Scientists may be able to better forecast to flu, thanks to how you search online.

Researchers with the CDC have worked with Google studying search patterns.

They say people who search for terms like "influenza complications" can give them real-time data about where the flu is hitting, how hard and where it could spread next.

However, they say more work still needs to be done.


Warmer than normal winters are more often followed by a more severe flu season.

Researchers say that pattern held true more than 70% of the time.

They believe the flu dies quicker in warm winters, meaning fewer people are exposed, leaving more people vulnerable to the disease when its colder since the body didn't have a chance to build up an immunity.


Women dealing with stress may be more sensitive to sound.

Researchers from Sweden say some women find even normal conversations painful following high stress situations.

So, they say doctors should consider a person's stress and exhaustion levels before treating hearing problems.

The study notes this is a normal reaction to stress, but the difference in sound sensitivity to men was not as significant as it is in women.


There's a new movement to make sure fighting cancer stays a global cause, by keeping World Cancer Day.

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is rising, along with the number of people who survive it.

Yet some countries lack some basic cancer care items, like pain medications.

Supporters say World Cancer Day needs to stay on the calendar until there is a cure and true prevention of the disease.
