Girls line up for free back to school hairstyles
BATON ROUGE- Dozens of girls lined up for presses and curls at Diva Glam Salon Sunday in Baton Rouge.
"It'll be very nice for me to wear my hair flat-ironed," says Marisa Hooker.
The salon is usually closed on Sunday, but owner Kenya Brown opened up just for little divas headed back to school.
She provided supplies, along with hair styles and says she wants nothing in return but good grades.
"Back to school is such a hard time for parents so I felt like if I can ease the burden by at least giving hair services that would help," says Brown.
Kelly Hooker brought two of her daughters to get their hair styled.
"Hair washing and getting a fresh haircut and getting all their curly hair straightened and curled it is a big expense. So it does help out since we have to buy school supplies, this is one less thing I have to worry about," says Hooker.
It's one less thing to worry about for parents and students. Most seem eager to step into class with a new look tomorrow morning.
"Im going to feel good, I'm going to feel like I am a new person," says Marisa.
Owners say the average girls' hairstyle usually costs between $30 and $50.
