Girlfriend emotional, left with questions after boyfriend's slaying
DENHAM SPRINGS - The girlfriend of a man gunned down over the weekend was emotional as she tried to talk about the confusion she has over her boyfriend's slaying.
"My whole life is gone because all I knew was him," Stephanie Felder said.
Her boyfriend, Brandon Jones, was taking her 6-year-old son to the barber shop when the shooting happened. Jones had picked up the child just 10 minutes before he was shot. The boy was not injured but saw it all happen.
"My baby is traumatized," she said.
The barber shop was quiet Tuesday afternoon. Orange cones and a rope blocked off the driveway. An area Jones and many others in the neighborhood had been dozens of times before.
"He was a big old teddy bear, that's what he was," said Felder. "He was loved."
Denham Springs Police arrested 18-year-old Timothy Clayton from Walker for first degree murder. Investigators said he shot and killed Jones at the barber shop Saturday night.
Felder had strong words for the person police have arrested.
"You could have killed my baby. My only son; that's my heart," said Felder. "You really basically don't have a heart because you have a little child that's running around, don't know what's going on and you could have killed him. You don't sit there and think about that?"
Felder says, after dating for six years, her and Jones had plans to get married.
Jones is survived by a young daughter.
