BATON ROUGE - In light of the recent Ebola outbreak in Africa, Nathan and Aaron visited News 2 at 4 to talk about their project called Geaux Love Africa which seeks to bring hope and joy to the people of the continent.

Geaux Love Africa was born out of the desire of the founders to use their talents to spread a message of faith and love throughout the world.

The idea for the project had its earliest beginnings in a recent trip that Nathan took to Zimbabwe to volunteer in remote villages and communities in need. During his downtime, he let his passion for photography extend across barriers of language and distance as a way to connect with the African people he met.

The people enjoyed the chance to have professional grade images of themselves taken and the connection Nathan felt with his subjects gave him the idea that turned into Geaux Love Africa.

They are asking people to sponsor a picture ($15) for their upcoming volunteer mission to Uganda. Nathan will print the photos for the people he meets using technology that allows him to produce instant prints and each picture comes with a message of faith in the language of the people and a commitment to prayer for that person.

People who sponsor a picture will receive a digital copy of the image they sponsor.

Currently, 371 of the 650 target number of pictures have been sponsored.

There is also a fundraiser hosted by Levee CrossFit at the Port Allen levee on Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants can sign up for the mile long run or walk with intermittent challenges to benefit the cause. Sign up is $20 and anyone is invited.

To sponsor a picture or learn more about the project, visit their website at GeauxLoveAfrica.com.
