Gator caught at Port Allen motel after biting guest
PORT ALLEN - Animal control workers removed an almost six-foot-long alligator from a Port Allen motel this afternoon after it bit a guest.
Staff at the motel told News 2 they saw the alligator outside of a window and called the West Baton Rouge Parish Sherriff's office. But before deputies could get there, a guest staying at the hotel attempted to subdue the animal. That's when the gator jumped at him, biting him on the arm.
The guest went the hospital to have his injuries checked. The gator was captured and rereleased in the northern part of the parish.
An alligator expert with Louisiana's Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said this is the time of year gators are on the move, and can wind up anywhere. If you see one, do not approach it: each parish has people trained to handle gators. Instead, contact your local sheriff's office.
