Fresh, healthy groceries delivered to your door
BATON ROUGE - Eating local is a trend many people in Louisiana follow, but it can be easier said than done. A couple of food lovers decided to change that. Indie Plate delivers farm-fresh goods straight to your door.
The fruits and vegetables are actually picked after you order them, so it's as fresh as you can get, short of going there and picking them yourself. It's designed for convenience to connect the average city-dweller with the perks of life on the farm.
Each farmer you shop with on the site has their own profile. You can find out how many animals are raised and how vegetables are grown, as well as ideas to put it all together and access to fresh-baked gluten-free breads and items.
"I'm a Louisiana native and Louisiana proud, and I just love supporting local businesses," Indie Plate co-founder Ben Bartage says. "I saw that there's all these farms out there and all these retails shops that only have one sales channel, and I figured we could create a one-stop shop platform to give all these producers their own sales channel."
Ben and his business partner Peru Sharma both had full time jobs outside of India Plate just one year ago. They've become so busy it's now their main focus.
