Freeze warning issued
BATON ROUGE - There is an overnight freeze warning going into Tuesday morning and chilly temperatures will return Tuesday night.
The warning begins at midnight Tuesday and will last until 8 a.m.
At area plant nurseries, workers covered and stored fragile vegetation.
"Anything that's got blooms like azaleas or roses... Anything that can burn the blooms off of it or burn a new growth and set it back... that's what we really try to protect," said Louisiana Nursery manager Les Rivett.
In Tangipahoa Parish, strawberry farmers covered their crops. It's prime picking time for them. But, there's not much concern. The freeze may slow the crop, but one farmer said he expects the berries to be sweeter.
