Family of injured teen wants answers
BATON ROUGE- Family, police, and friends of a University High School football player are tied-up in a whirlwind of rumor, injury, and investigation.
Friday night, D'Vante Dotson was found lying, unconscious, in a BREC park. The U High player was celebrating with friends after a playoff victory.
Dotson's family told News2, he was set to spend the night at a friend's house. Instead, he had to be rushed to the hospital.
His grandmother, Carolyn, described the phone call she received: "she said, 'momma.. It's D'Vante... He's not responding, they're putting him on life support. They're moving him to ICU.'"
Police are investigating what happened before the teen was found lying in a pool of blood. But, speculation and stories on social media are not helping anyone piece together what happened that night.
On Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram people have suggested D'Vante Dotson was attacked and have alluded it had to do with him being African American.
"Someone knows what happened, they just don't want to come forward," said Carolyn Dotson. Her plea to those with information: "come forward, say what happened."
