PORT ALLEN - Family members identified the boy who drowned at the Cajun Lagoon water park as 14-year-old Nick Kissner of Port Allen.

His father John Kissner told News 2 he was outraged lifeguards didn't notice sooner that his son, whom he said could swim, was in trouble in the water.

Kissner said he dropped his son off with a church youth group to go to the water park Tuesday morning. He said the group leader called later to tell him his son was missing, and then shortly after that he got the call his son was dead.

A representative for the park's owners told News 2 once lifeguards were notified Kissner was missing they formed a search line in the water, which stretches from 2 feet to 10 feet deep, and went through the pool until they found him.

The sheriff's office said they were notified about the drowning around 1 p.m. They said lifeguards performed CPR on Kissner until EMS arrived and took over.

News 2's Olivia Laborde will have more from the people who knew Nick tonight starting at 4 p.m.
