Family: I-110 Gunman was victim's best friend
BATON ROUGE - The family of the Baker man shot to death on I-110 says the accused gunman, Jerome Fort, was his best friend.
Tamika Williams says when she heard 22-year-old Fort was the suspect in her boyfriend, Silas Gibbs', murder- she was shocked.
She says, "They were close friends. They called themselves cousins so I just don't understand why he would do such a thing."
Williams says the two have been buddies since Gibbs' days as a running back at Southern University in 2008.
But Gibbs' sister, Gladys Gibbs, is skeptical.
She says, "Obiviously , he wasn't no close friend. Why kill him?"
24-year-old Gibbs is the father of two children, including Williams' daughter.
Fort is wanted for second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
