Family hopes arrests bring closure

ROBERT - A family is feeling heartache and vindication after two people were charged with a woman's murder a decade ago.

Debbie Lindsey was stabbed to death near her home in Amite in 2003. For years, Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office detectives failed to find a solid suspect and the case went cold.

But Lindsey's case warmed up when deputies got a tip, and more witnesses came forward.

This week, deputies arrested David Morris, 39, of Baton Rouge and Karen Birch, 33, of Tickfaw. Both are charged with second degree murder.

"They've been living out here for ten years now enjoying their life. And they don't know what they've put us through for a long time," Lindsey's mother Flo Foy said.

Morris and Birch were friends with Lindsey and were questioned previously about her murder.

Foy hopes with the break in the case she can find closure.

"I'd just tell her they finally found someone who's done this to you and she can rest easy now," Foy said.
