Economic boost flying into Ascension
GONZALES - An economic boom is about to fly into Ascension Parish. The Louisiana Regional Airport is waiting to hear from the FAA about extending the landing strip from 4,000 feet to 5,000 feet. Increasing the length of the runway will allow bigger aircraft to land at the airport and it will allow those aircraft to land year round.
Louisiana Regional Airport is located off of Highway 44, just south of I-10. It is one of nine regional airports in the state. It's used by local enthusiasts and by industry executives who fly into the region on business.
The project will be paid for with fuel taxes from aviation.
