BATON ROUGE - School board members voted unanimously tonight to nominate Dr. Bernard Taylor as the next superintendent of East Baton Rouge Parish Schools.
The board will now negotiate a contract with Taylor to officially hire him.
Dr. Taylor, who is on leave as superintendent of schools in Grand Rapids, Mich., visited the district yesterday and met with local leaders before a formal interview with the board and public questions.
The board's other finalist, Dr. Marie Pitre-Martin, had a similar visit the day before.
