BATON ROUGE - People in East Baton Rouge Parish made last-minute purchases and preparations ahead of Hurricane Isaac's arrival today.

Ernest Richard joined dozens of people filling sandbags to protect their homes.

"I'm concerned about my family and how safe my family is," Richard said.

At the same time, dozens of people filled the B-Quik on Perkins Road, filling up their cars and gas cans for generators back home. Many were concerned what would happen in the wake of the storm.

"I think the prices will probably go up," said Lauren Knaps.

Managers at the gas station said they were prepared to stay open throughout the storm, with generators to keep pumps going. They advised people to make sure they have cash ready in the days ahead, though.

"Everyone may need to have cash because if the satellite or network goes down, they won't work any longer so should have cash if that happens," said Shawn Perry with B-Quik.

DPW crews also made last-minute preparations to unclog any drains that stop up when the storm moves in. People living in the parish who have questions about the storm can also call 311.
