Downtown grocery to open in May
BATON ROUGE- Investors plan to open a grocery store in downtown Baton Rouge, at the corner of Third Street and Florida Blvd., later this spring.
A grocery store is one of the key retail needs identified in a recent Downtown Development District report. The group of investors say the store will feature most of the items offered in grocery stores except for meat.
People who live downtown, like Kandyse Aube, are excited about the plans. Aube told News 2 today it's difficult to make it to stores outside the downtown region. Aube says people working downtown will be able to pick up some items they need while on a lunch break. She is also glad produce from farmers involved in the farmer's market will also be available.
The investors say they may expand the store and products offered if the business shows growth.
