Downtown bars prepping for big LSU weekend
BATON ROUGE - Downtown Baton Rouge bar owners expect both LSU and Ole Miss fans to flood the city this weekend.
The third ranked Ole Miss Rebels come into town to face LSU on national television. Tickets online are going for anywhere between $187-500 on StubHub.
Andrew Bayard, who is a part-owner of Huey's and Brickyard South, says he's ordered double the amount of beer this week. Alcohol orders came rolling in Thursday.
"We're really expecting a lot of people. We've got the hotels downtown pretty much sold out to capacity, so we've really upped our orders. We think that with the 13th Gate, it's going to be a huge weekend at both places," said Bayard.
If you can't come up with a ticket for the game or a tailgate spot near Tiger Stadium, bar owners say they'll have you covered for kickoff.
"It makes it a lot of fun for those people that don't go out and tailgate, they may want to go to the bar and watch the day games and then stay and watch LSU play," said Bayard. "That's what we love about it. It just creates an atmosphere on Saturday where you really don't have to do anything to bring the crowd into the bar."
ESPN College Gameday will be live from LSU Saturday morning with kickoff later in the day at 6:15 p.m.
