DOTD examines I-12
BATON ROUGE - When it's rush hour on I-12, drivers know where they don't want to be.
Getting between Livingston and Baton Rouge is chaotic. Bang ups have caused miles and miles of back ups and some drivers have started fearing for their lives.
Now, the state Department of Transportation and Development has taken note that in recent weeks something has changed.
DOTD's incident management group will look at the areas to see if there are any improvements that can be made. A move that may seem odd since you can't miss the construction already underway widening I-12 to Walker and possibly beyond.
But, drivers worry that construction may not make enough room for the real problem of growth in the parish.
It's a point DOTD will have to consider in their new look at the corridor. But there's one more problem drivers say needs fixing right away.
So state troopers plan to hit I-12 even harder, write more tickets, and serve as a visual warning to slow down.
DOTD will start its look at I-12 next month.
