BATON ROUGE- A lot of women wonder why they carry weight differently than their friends or even other family members. This morning, Dr. Ursula White from Pennington Biomedical stopped by 2une In to explain why no two women carry weight the same.
According to Dr. White, Individuals that have more of their weight in their abdominal region are at a higher risk for developing diseases such as type two diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension. People that have more weight below the waist may be more protected from these diseases.
Dr. White encouraged anyone that isn't sure what type of body they have to stop by Pennington Biomedical Research Center.
"We have scans that we can do to tell you exactly where your fat is distributed," said White. "This is helpful information because it can help you better understand where you are in terms of your health."
Pennington is looking for women to participate in these scans so they can further understand why women carry weight differently. You can learn more about these studies on Pennington's website or you can call the center at 225-763-3000.
