LAPLACE- One day before friends and family prepare to say their final goodbyes to Deputy Brandon Nielsen, the man known for his skills on the street and his prowess on a motorcycle is being remembered.

"He wanted to make sure he was the best at what he could do, and he took passion in it, if it was motorcycle riding or any other investigation that he was doing, he didn't want to lack at it," said Sgt. Conrad Baker, Jr., Nielsen's supervising officer.

Nielsen would often run to help fellow officers, even if it meant extra work.

"Brandon didn't need to roll to alarms and Brandon didn't need to roll to fights because he was traffic division, that's how Brandon was, he was backing up his fellow officers on those calls and I'm sure that's what he was doing on that [morning] that that happened," said Sgt. Baker.

Nielsen leaves behind five children and his wife Danielle. His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans.
