Deputies: Man murders wife and son in Gonzales
GONZALES - A family is coping with the tragic loss of two loved ones after a man allegedly murdered his wife and their 12-year-old son.
Ascension Parish sheriff's deputies say Ronald Green Sr. shot and killed his wife, 40-year-old Dewona Green and his son, Ronald Green Jr.
Grief-stricken family members gathered at the murder scene trying to figure out what went wrong.
"We're experiencing a big loss right now. It's a big loss to the family to lose both of them at the same time too. I would have thought that they would be burying me and now I have to bury them. It's tough," said Joe Wright.
Around 2 a.m. Deputies say Ronald Green called his sister and admitted to killing his family. He then said he would jump off a bridge. Investigators found Green's car later, abandoned and left running on top of the Veterans Memorial Bridge in St. John Parish.
"I just don't see how he could... what could possibly push him to the extreme to do something tragic like this. That was so bad, and he done caused a lot of hurt on our family," said Wright.
Deputies say Dewona Green obtained a temporary protective order against her husband on April 11. Investigators are pursuing the case as if Ronald Green Sr. is still alive.
