Crisis Intervention Center helps with traumatic loss
BATON ROUGE - Thanksgiving signals the beginning of the holidays and is a time for joy and celebration, but it can also be a time for loss, anxiety and depression.
You can get help for the holiday blues at the Baton Rouge Crisis Intervention Center. Haley Shows joined John Pastorek on 2une In Tuesday with all the details.
Beginning January 1st we are going to offer traumatic loss grief counseling. It's part of the center's Traumatic Loss Outreach Program.
"We are activated by the Coroner's Office, and we go out to the scene of a traumatic death," she explains.
Shows says those events can include anything from a tragic car accident or shooting. She believes it's best to plan ahead.
"If you know this is your first anniversary without your loved one, know what you're going to do this holiday season," Shows recommends.
