Crafty ways to reuse Mardi Gras beads
BATON ROUGE - Local DIY author Julie Laperouse demonstrated several ways to reuse Mardi Gras beads for home projects Tuesday on WBRZ News 2 at 4.
Laperouse said one way to recycle beads is to use them as decorations for other holidays. Laperouse showed off a shamrock she made from plywood and strings of green beads for St. Patrick's Day this weekend, and ways to make beaded Easter egg decorations.
Another project she demonstrated was using beads to add accents to other pieces of furniture or decorations, such as old mirrors or picture frames.
Laperouse runs the website Screaming Peacock and wrote a self-help book called "Are You A Screaming Peacock?" She said she always wants to help people "put your best feather forward."
