Councilman considers curfew after murders
BAKER - Town leaders want to put a community at ease after a triple murder left three teenagers dead and a fourth injured.
Authorities identified Nakeydran Williams, 16, as the shooter in the killing of 15-year-old Marcell Franklin, 15-year-old Kendal Dorsey and 18-year-old Diontrey Claiborne. Javaughn Simmons, 19, was wounded in the shooting that happened Friday night.
The Baker City Council will hold a special meeting April 2nd at 10 a.m. at town hall to address "fears and sadness" councilwoman Joyce Burges said. She requested the meeting.
Burges wants to show support for police and avoid panic by showing a face of unity. She also suggested parents should know police are on high alert for potential retaliation.
"I don't really know what they can say or what they can do other than what I did and express my sympathies for the family," Councilman Pete Heine said.
Councilman Robert Young suggested the town discuss a curfew for younger children for the time being.
Williams will be in court in two weeks and could face adult charges.
