Councilman accused of stealing electricity
GONZALES- Newly elected city councilman Tim Vessel faces misdemeanor charges, accused of stealing electricity from a neighbor.
Police said a complaint was filed against Vessel by the property owner. The owner accused Vessel of plugging an extension cord in to a the neighbor's power supply and running tools with the power.
Vessel's house burned down recently, and the power to it was turned off. The power tools were being used to make repairs on Vessel's home.
Sherman Jackson, the Gonzales Police Chief, said it appeared Vessel did not ask the neighbor for permission to use the utilities.
Vessel was elected to the Gonzales City Council in November.
