BATON ROUGE - Constable Reginald Brown said disciplinary action could be possible for a deputy constable seen in a video taking a Southern University student to the ground Friday.

The video News 2 obtained has been viewed thousands of times on WBRZ.com, and is sparking outrage among the people who've seen it.

"The Officer was in the wrong," Rere G. posted online.  "What would have happened had he dropped the individual on his head?"

David B. posted, "Had the young man listened as the officer attempted to take him by the arm, all this would have been avoided."

Brown said today that an investigation into the matter should be wrapped up by the end of the week.

"The penalty in any situation, and it's speculating, you could be suspended to termination," Brown said.  "If that's the case, however; that is a very premature judgement at this point to make."

There is a full investigation underway, because there are so many different accounts of what happened.

Tina L. posted, "The constable did his job. I was in the gym at the time, he politely told him that he had to wait in line like all the other students, that were waiting and refused to."

We asked why the initial report into this incident has not been viewed yet, and were told the deputy constable is on vacation.  Brown said he is not on administrative leave.

Brown promises to make sure the truth is revealed, even if it means disciplining one of his own.

"This is an opportunity for people in our community to see justice in action," Brown said. "That's what it will be. The results will be justice no matter what way it goes."

The City Constable's office was supplementing Southern University's Police Department when the incident occurred Friday. The Southern Police Department referred questions to the constable's office.

At this time, no official complaints have been filed over the incident.
