Coach files lawsuit against Central School System
CENTRAL - An assistant football coach is suing after he was removed from his coaching job.
Coach Mike Gardner field suit against the Central Community School System and Central High Principal Bob Wales after his removal from the coaching position. In court documents obtained by News 2, Mike Gardner said he lost his coaching position after he bought a bar in January.
The documents claim Wales advised Gardner that "the sale of liquor is a sin."
Gardner's attorney, Jill Craft, says his constitutional rights were violated and wants Gardner to be reinstated as coach.
A representative of the school system said they had not seen the suit yet, and could not comment.
