Club-goers think twice about partying after nightclub shooting
BATON ROUGE - Some club goers say they're worried about going out this weekend after the latest Baton Rouge shooting at Club Empire.
Baton Rouge Police said a man was shot in the knee at the club last night, and is expected to be okay.
"I wasn't there, but I know one of my friends work there so I texted him to make sure he was ok," James Lewis told News 2.
"Bullets have no name so you never know if the bullet's headed towards you," Alexandria Weary added.
Back in August, 32-year-old Corey Kaufman was shot to death outside a nightclub on Plank Road.
While some are concerned about violence at their favorite hangouts, other told News 2 the shootings won't deter them.
"If it happens, it happens," said James Teague. "I mean, I have no control of what goes on. Only thing I can do is make sure I'm safe and be aware of my surroundings."
News 2 spoke to local promoters, who insist they have beefed up security, but that's not enough for some patrons.
"The best thing to do is stay away," said Weary. "Life is too precious, and you don't want to lose your life at a club."
News 2 was unable to reach Club Empire's owner for comment.
