Church bus fire at the center of investigation
BATON ROUGE - A mysterious fire of a 25 passenger church bus is now at the center of an investigation by the Baton Rouge Fire Department.
The bus was being repaired at an auto repair shop off Greenwell Springs.
According to Curtis Shepherd, Pastor of New Philadelphia Full Gospel Baptist Church, the bus was used to transport church members who don't have a way to get to service.
Investigators say no one was hurt but they haven't ruled out arson.
The fire that started in the church's bus spread and damaged four other buses.
Pastor Shepherd says the church will come together to support one another until they can buy another bus.
"We are a church that sticks together...that loves the Lord. We are a church where this is family. Every Sunday I tell them that we're family here...those are not just empty words. We love God, we love on each other. We see about each other."
Shepherd says, the church will hold a fundraiser to help raise money for a new bus.
Investigators are still in the process of interviewing witnesses and hope to have more answers within the next few days.
