Central residents tired of dealing with dirty water
CENTRAL - Homeowners in Central say brown water’s been spewing out of faucets for five days and they’ve had enough.
“It started coming out a light tan color,” said Central resident, Jaclyn Dumas “and then over the next few days it turned into an almost dark sweet tea color.”
Dumas lives off Sullivan Road. She’s been dealing with ‘disgusting’ water for years. Dozens of other residents have too.
Now, residents and Central City Officials like Mayor Junior Shelton are demanding answers from The Baton Rouge Water Company.
“Disgusting, it is disgusting how anybody could put this off and expect families with children to bathe their children, feed their children, drink this water, it's unconscionable.” Mayor Shelton said.
So far, residents said their concerns haven't warranted any solutions.
“Unfortunately, our citizens aren't getting any answers about why it's happening or when it’s going to clear up.” Mayor Shelton explained.
The brown water ranging from light brown to dark has been going on five consecutive days and is making everyday life a nuisance.
“it’s a shame I can't trust my water,” said Dumas, “I damage clothes when I wash clothes, I can't properly cook with water or drink anything that includes faucet water.”
Mayor Shelton said once he learned of the issue, he and Senator Bodi White immediately contacted the LDEQ. They plan on testing water and visiting households Monday, November, 20th.
