Capital Area United Way Awards Banquet
BATON ROUGE- The Capital Area United Way aims to create a community where everyone is empowered to reach their full potential. All year long, community members work to make the CAUW's vision a reality. Now, the organization is recognizing people for all their hard work.
People throughout the 10-parish area have been working hard to improve the community in any way they can. This year, The CAUW organization raised over $9 million for the community.
The group is getting ready to celebrate its 90th year in the Baton Rouge community. CAUW's president and CEO, Darrin Goss, says he's looking forward to the progress the organization is planning for the future.
Goss also says he wants CAUW to focus its attention on three key aspects of the community: education, income and stability and healthy living. The group is working to develop an array of programs that focus on bettering those three aspects of living.
Capital Area United Way will be recognizing community members for their outstanding work at the organization's annual Meeting and Awards Banquet. The celebration is being held on Tuesday, July 28th at the Baton Rouge River Center. WBRZ's own, Kylie Dixon will emcee the event.
"It's a celebration, it's an anniversary, and it's a sneak peek into our next 90 years," said Goss. "The community raises the dollars, the community helps us invest those dollars, and we want everyone in our community to come help us celebrate."
