Busy bridge set to reopen this weekend
GROSSE TETE - A bridge that was smashed by a barge two months ago is scheduled to open Saturday, pending a final inspection of joint seals.
Friday afternoon, contractors put the Grosse Tete bridge on Highway 77 to the test.
A barge crashed into the bridge on February 28th, and its been shut down ever since.
People living nearby have had to use a ferry to get back and forth from their homes to their cars.
The bridge's opening comes as a surprise because the work was scheduled to take six months.
Once it's open, cars can travel on the swing bridge indefinetly.
