Burglars sought after three churches broken into
PORT ALLEN - Sheriff's deputies said surveillance video gave them a look at two men who broke into a trio of churches and stole electronics and musical instruments this past weekend in West Baton Rouge Parish.
Deputies said St. Paul's Baptist Church, New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church and Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Port Allen all had their back doors pried open Saturday night. In each case burglars stole the churches' sound systems, amplifiers, electric pianos and computers.
One church had a game camera which caught two men as they were going through the church sanctuary.
Deputies said once they're identified the men face three enhanced charges of simple burglary of a religious building, which carries a possible sentence of two to 12 years in jail for each count.
Anyone with information about the thefts should call the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.
