BRPD makes arrest in 2015 double murder

BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a man Wednesday night and charged him in the deaths of two men in Baton Rouge in October 2015.

Clyde Eugene Bell, 25, is charged with 2 counts of murder. BRPD says evidence analyzed at the State Crime Lab confirmed he killed Johnson Armstrong and Corey Steptore last fall.

Two women discovered their bodies at a home on Dutton Avenue. At the time, police told News 2 the victims had been stabbed, but in an email Wednesday, said the victims had also been shot.

The case was featured in a report from The Investigative Unit in February on unsolved murders in Baton Rouge. The families of both victims told News 2 they didn't believe police would ever find the killer.

"We feel like had it been someone else or somewhere else, maybe the case would have gotten more publicity and maybe the detectives would have dug a little deeper," Teka Steptore said.

"I think this is one of those cases they put on the back burner, and we'll see about doing it later," Allan Armstrong said.
