BRPD crash interview
BATON ROUGE - A man sitting in a parked van says two Baton Rouge police cruisers wrecked downtown Friday night, one smashing into him.
Roy Farve, a driver for Railcrew Xpress, told News 2 he was parked off the side of River Road at North Street when he looked up and saw one of the police cruisers barreling towards him.
He said BRPD officers came over to his vehicle to check on him, then told him one of the cruisers had crashed into the other causing it to lose control and hit his vehicle.
BRPD officials confirmed that one cruiser crashed into the back of the other, causing the crash with the van.
The officer driving the cruiser that crashed into the other was reportedly distracted and then slammed into the back of the other unit, according to officials.
BRPD officials said they are investigating to determine what actions will be taken against the officer driving the unit that caused the crash.
Farve said his van has a dash camera that captured the entire incident.
Baton Rouge Police say the involved officers are expected to be okay but have not commented further
