Broussard out as AD, Southern football begins practice
BATON ROUGE – Southern University announced Monday that Dr. William Broussard will not return as director of athletics.
In March, Southern University temporarily reassigned Broussard to the Southern System Presidents office as assistant to the president for institutional advancement. Monday’s announcement makes that assignment permanent.
In the official release, the Southern University system said:
“The SU System received a request, July 31, 2015, from Dr. William Broussard that he continues in the role as assistant to the president for institutional advancement. The University supports the request.”
Southern University in March did not give a reason for the change but said that the move was a personnel matter that was only a temporary. The university said that it anticipated Broussard to return to his former position at the beginning of August.
Southern University also said that basketball coach Roman Banks will continue to serve as interim SUBR director of athletics until further notice.
