BRHS choir gets Ash Wednesday papal audience
VATICAN CITY - Students from Baton Rouge performed for Pope Benedict XVI during an Ash Wednesday papal audience today at the Vatican.
Members of the Baton Rouge High School Festival Singers performed a Papal address.
Faculty members said they were in Italy for a choral tour when they received the honor.
"Our singers have made us very proud and have created a memory we will cherish for a lifetime," said Director of Choral Studies, Robbie Giroir.
The pope announced this week he plans to retire at the end of February, citing health issues.
After the audience, choir members were surrounded by reporters and photographers and asked for their reaction on the pope's resignation.
