BREC's Cage Fit
BATON ROUGE- Summer is right around the corner, and many people are headed to the BREC Upper Deck batting cages to get in shape for the season.
The batting cages offer a cheap workout class called ‘Cage Fit,' for people who want to exercise without the drawbacks of going to a gym. It all started with a couple of employees working out at the batting cages, but eventually it became so popular, they had to open it up to the public.
The workout offers a mix of cardio and strength training, which sends your metabolism into overdrive. The goal of the class is to get the maximum results in the shortest amount of time. This makes it perfect for people working nine-to-five jobs, because they can participate in the class before work or during their lunch hour.
"It's two dollars, you can't beat that," said Cage Fit's Theresa Austin. "A lot of people run from having to spend so much money on trying to work out, and it's right here."
Cage Fit classes are held every Wednesday at 7 a.m. and noon. The classes are 15 minutes long, and the batting cages have showers for people to clean-up after their workout.
