Breakfast with 2une In: Italian Heritage Festa (6:00 a.m.)
BATON ROUGE- This weekend, Baton Rouge is showing off its Italian flare! The Greater Baton Rouge American Italian Association is hosting the 2015 Italian Heritage Festa.
The AIA was founded in 1978 by immigrants and descendants of Italy. The group started with only 30 members that wanted to continue their family lineage, promote education and become involved in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
This morning, News 2’s Kylie Dixon was at La Divina with some members of the AIA learning more about the event.
The weekend will kick off with a big bocce ball tournament on Saturday, July 25th followed by a concert in the evening. The festival will also feature fundraising events for local charities in Baton Rouge.
“We have a lot of collaboration from people in the city,” said Bill Bryan with the AIA. “We’re really excited about all the excitement around the community.”
The actual Italian Heritage Festa will be on Sunday, July 26th at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino and Hotel Atrium. The event will go from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.
You can find out more about the exciting event at the American Italian Association’s website.
