Breakfast with 2une In: Girls on the Run
BATON ROUGE- Girls on the Run is an organization that inspires young women to overcome obstacles, define themselves, and change the world. The group has over one million members nationwide. This morning on Breakfast with 2une In, News 2's Rebecca Buchanan met up with some members of girls on the run, at Brew Ha-Ha in Baton Rouge.
Sherry Roper has been a Girls on the Run coach for the past 5 years, and she's enjoyed every second of it.
"I love the girls, and the program is so fabulous," says Roper. "It's a great program that teaches the girls about confidence and strength."
Roper says she notices a difference in the girls every year. She believes that the program helps them find confidence and become more comfortable with themselves, which positively affects their everyday lives.
"Not all of them love to run," says Roper. "But they keep coming back even if they don't, because they love the program."
The Girls on the Run 5K is being held on Saturday, May 9th at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center. The event is a great way to get in shape, while supporting a great organization. You can find more information on the event by visiting the Girls on the Run website.
