Bowling for Babies with Kiwanis
BATON ROUGE - It's time to hit the lanes and go "Bowling for Babies" this weekend in Baton Rouge.
The Kiwanians' fundraiser is Saturday from 2 - 4 p.m. at Circle Bowl in Baton Rouge. Tanya Moses and Mark Bray with the South Baton Rouge Kiwanis stopped by 2une In this morning with all the details. Bowling for Babies will help Kiwanis to support UNICEF's "Eliminate Project".
"The 'Eliminate Project' is a global health initiative to wipe out maternal neonatal tetanus," Moses explained.
According to the "Eliminate Project" website, MNT kills one baby every nine minutes. It causes the newborns to "suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch". MNT can kill both the baby and the mother.
