BATON ROUGE- Runners train year-round to prepare for the Boston Marathon, and today it's finally race day.
Sarah Dicharry, a running instructor from Baton Rouge, is participating in the marathon for the first time.
"For me it's really been like a bucket list thing," said Dicharry. "I've always felt like I wanted to do it one day."
Dicharry is part of a group of runners from Baton Rouge that will be competing in the race. She says this opportunity takes her life's work to another level.
Though most people describe running as an individualist sport, Dicharry says her running is a team effort, and wouldn't be complete without her Varsity running teammates and the students in her running class.
"The thought of so many people behind me, just watching me, they're tracking me, they're praying for me, it's just amazing," said Dicharry. "It feels awesome."
The marathon kicks off this morning at 8 a.m. You can watch it from the Boston Marathon website.
