Baton Rouge ranked 15th most dangerous city
BATON ROUGE - BusinessInsider.com, a business journalism website, ranked Baton Rouge the 15th most dangerous city in the United States.
The numbers are derived from statistics collected by the FBI. The data focuses on cities with populations of 100,000 or more, taking into account murder, rape and robbery.
Baton Rouge was ranked higher than other cities like Cincinnati and Dayton, OH, and Buffalo, NY. New Orleans ranked fifth.
"I feel safe in my neighborhood, I feel safe in the areas where I go," said Pat Murphy. "I don't go in areas where I don't feel safe, and there are those areas."
Business Insider said research shows cities that have fought crime have increased police presence.
The Baton Rouge Police Department has a new recruit class graduating next month.
