BAKER - Police said they broke the back of a large drug operation Thursday.

Three people were arrested and about 100 pounds of marijuana was seized along with other drugs and guns.

Chief Mike Knaps said narcotics officers arrested Lawrence LeBlanc, Stefanie Davis, and Elzy Hollis on several drug and weapons charges after a lengthy investigation.

Investigators said LeBlanc is a leader in the area's drug trade. They also said he is no stranger to the law.

"He's been a major player in this drug world out here," said Zachary Police Chief David McDavid. McDavid's department assisted Chief Knaps and his officers.

"I've dealt with him many times if you go back and pull his criminal history," McDavid said.

They believe as many as 50 street-level dealers didn't get supplied with drugs because of this bust.

Knaps said members of the Delta Narcotics Task Force obtained a search warrant for a home on Plank Road, and found the stash of marijuana, three bottles of anabolic steroids, a bottle of Loratab pills, drug paraphernalia and $5,000 in cash.

They also said they found several firearms in the home, including one stolen from Ascension Parish.

All three suspects were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail.

Authorities said they hope the court will look at LeBlanc's priors and keep him in jail.

The Delta Narcotics Task Force includes sheriff's offices from East Baton Rouge, West Feliciana, and Pointe Coupee parishes, Baker and Zachary police departments, and the Baton Rouge Constables Office. Today's search included assistance from EBRSO's K9 and Special Operations Divisions.
