Baker city officials explore revenue options
BAKER - City officials met to discuss possible ways to help Baker's budget Friday.
The two biggest options looked at were an increase in property taxes and an increase in sales taxes.
Right now the current sales tax is 9.5 percent. The maximum the city can charge in sales tax is 10 percent.
Councilwoman Joyce Burges, who called for the meeting, said the residents she spoke to seemed to be more in favor of a sales tax increase.
Both items will be on the agenda at the Jan. 27 council meeting.
