Ascension Parish to start cleaning up debris Tuesday

Related Story

GONZALES- Trucks are getting ready start picking up debris left behind by recent flooding in Ascension Parish.

Parish officials are asking residents to keep a few things in mind when setting debris out on the street.

The Ascension Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director Rick Webre said if residents place their debris near utility poles, the grapple truck will disconnect them along with phone and cable lines.

Officials will be patrolling the northern area of Ascension Parish. They will be picking up debris from flood-affected areas around Highway 42 and the Amite River.

Webre said the parish is opting to pick up the debris, rather than hire a contractor.

If you have any questions about the debris cleanup you can call 225-621-8360 or email flood@ap.gov.us.
